WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
We recognise that applying for posts can be time consuming and stressful – we want to do our best to keep these to a minimum. You are taking time to apply, and we want to ensure that we’re as clear as possible about the time scales for shortlisting, interviews, and follow-up.
We will read all applications and aim to shortlist within 48 hours of the deadline.
If you have not been shortlisted, we will contact you by email and let you know. If there is a delay in shortlisting, beyond 48 hours, we will also let you know.
If you have been shortlisted, we will contact you by email and provide you with a time for a short online interview. If there is a delay in shortlisting, beyond 48 hours, we will also let you know.
During this interview, you will be asked to respond to a number of questions. We will provide you with those questions at least 24 hours in advance of the interview.
Following interview, if you are not appointed for the post we will contact you – either by email or phone – to let you know. We aim to do this within 24 hours of the interview taking place. We will be able to provide short feedback on why you were not appointed, if this is helpful to you.
In some circumstances we may ask shortlisted candidates to undertake a further interview and/or to undertake a further interview task.
If we would like to take you through to the next stage we will contact you – either by email or phone – to let you know. We aim to do this within 24 hours of the interview taking place. We will ask you to provide two current references for us to contact, and will only be able to offer a contract of employment once those references have been received. A recent DBS certificate will also be required. We will also require you to provide proof of right to work in the UK before offering you the position.
If you are not successful for this post, we will delete your CV and application within 6 months of application. Your information (including your email) will not be kept or stored on any of our systems after this time.
Volunteer or Collaborate with The Love Tank
As a small organisation we welcome the experience and skills that volunteers and collaborators can bring to our work. Much of our work is peer-led - and so we will often be looking for volunteers and collaborators who are from the communities that specific programmes are working alongside.
-
We are rarely able to support volunteers who do not have a clear sense of what they would like to be involved with. Our open volunteer positions (see below) represent the areas in which we currently need volunteer time. If you have a specific skill you would like to explore with us that is not covered in the current openings, please reach out via the volunteer query form (below).
-
Volunteering is a great way to build additional skills and to get experience in the community health sector - and that can help to add to your skill sets for future opportunities. The Love Tank very occasionally has open job positions and, when we do, experience of working in an organisation such as The Love Tank will be an asset. Other organisations recruiting for new posts might also positively view such experience. But please note - volunteering with us doesn’t automatically lead to a paid job!
-
Everyone who works with and alongside The Love Tank - from directors, paid staff, volunteers, mobilisers and collaborators - will be provided with training and support with their role. This involves being familiar with essential policies and protocols - such as confidentiality, boundaries, health and safety, and safeguarding policies. Bespoke training and mentoring is provided for specific roles, depending on the role taken on. The level of training is outlined in all current opportunities.
-
Yes. We do not expect volunteers to be out-of-pocket for volunteering time and so we cover transport costs and other expenses, including refreshments when these are not otherwise provided. For some programmes, we are able to provide assistance with covering care costs (e.g. child care). Some programmes and opportunities come with a single expense payment to cover all costs of participating.
-
We receive many requests for student collaborations and placements and will prioritise requests from students we already have a relationship with (e.g. a student taking part in our volunteer programme). For details about research collaborations please visit our research collaboration guidance here.
-
Most of our work is based in the UK and some work (for legal or insurance reasons) needs to be undertaken by people based there. If you have skills and experience that could assist The Love Tank from outside the UK - such as international fundraising - we would be delighted to receive a query.
-
Requests to volunteer with us at large sold-out events are massively over-subscribed. We prioritise volunteers not only with the skills and experiences needed, but those who have otherwise volunteered with and contributed to The Love Tank in the previous year. Please don’t ask for free tickets.
-
Look at the currently open volunteer opportunities (below) and complete the short query form. If completing an online form is not possible or challenging for you, please reach out to one of our team, and we will arrange to be in touch.
-
Drop us a query email here. We love to build new collaborations - but please approach us with at least the skeleton of a feasible idea. We’re a small organisation, with most of our team working hard on existing programmes - but that doesn’t mean your idea won’t excite us (and often collaborations join up with ideas we’ve already sketched out). Heads up: we don’t have lots of cash. If you’re coming to us to fund an idea, we work on a shoe-string!
